FAQ

What should I do first in Enshrouded?

Place your first Flame Altar. Keen's 1.0 changelog: "The first level-up is now designed to happen when placing the first Flame Altar; this is not strict science, of course, as players are free to follow their own path. When following the quest line, the second level-up should then trigger when freeing the Blacksmith." The Beginners Guide has the first steps as a checklist.

What's the most useful tip for Enshrouded beginners?

Collect Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells as you go: the 1.0 files hold 60 roots worth 1 skill point and 18 wells worth 3 — 114 points that no amount of levelling gives you.

How do you level up fast in Enshrouded?

Levelling follows the Flame: each upgrade opens a region with stronger enemies (typical level 5 → 13 → 18 → 25 → 32 → 41 → 48 in the 1.0 files). The progression guide has the order and the XP sources are on the max level page.

What's the best strategy for solo play in Enshrouded?

Play on Automatic enemy count: "When Automatic is set, the amount of enemies is scaled depending on the size of the party in a multiplayer game. As “party” counts every player actively playing in the vicinity. Players in other areas of Embervale are not counted as part of the party."

Can you respec in Enshrouded?

Yes. A respec costs 1 rune per spent skill point (Keen Games, Souls of the Frozen Frontier notes (2024-11-05)). Existing saves get a reset tree once: "When playing for the first time in version 1.0.0.0 with an existing save game, the skill tree will be reset."

What's the worst mistake new players make in Enshrouded?

Leaving skill points in the world. 114 of the 212 points come from Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells, not levels; each region's count is in the progression guide.
