Enshrouded Fell Curse & Shroud Fatigue: How to Cure

Verified for 1.05 min read

Two of the three debuffs have a cure you craft by hand with no station: the Fell Curse goes with a Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic (2× Fresh Shroud Spore) and Hemotoxin with a Hemotoxin Antidote (2× Spider Gland + 1× Moth). Shroud Fatigue has no cure: it takes 4 minutes off your Shroud timer and ends by itself after 15 minutes. Each cure also protects you from that debuff for 60 minutes.

Open your buff bar and look at the icon: the three names below are the ones players search for, and the cure is different for each. The Shroud timer itself (how long you may stay in the fog, and what adds time) is in the Shroud guide; this page is only about getting rid of the debuffs.

Which debuff do you have?

Names and texts are the game's own. "Until removed" means the game's text says it stays until you use the cure, including through death.

Step 1: Cure the Fell Curse

Once cursed, you are short of Shroud time whenever you enter the fog, and nothing wears it off. The cure is the Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic, and the game walks you to it with a side quest, A Cure For The Fell Curse, that the Alchemist gives at level 10.

  1. Talk to the Alchemist. The quest's first step is exactly that; if you have not rescued the Alchemist yet, see the quest order guide.
  2. Collect 2 [Fresh Shroud Spore](/enshrouded/resources/fresh-shroud-spore). The game's item text: "Fresh Shroud spores, used to craft medicines that can cure the Shroud curse. They first appear in the Springlands at night, among groups of Fell enemies above the Shroud." The quest adds that the materials are scattered among groups of Fell foes, so look for them at night.
  3. Craft the tonic by hand. The recipe is 2× Fresh Shroud Spore for 1 tonic, and the files list no station for it, so you can craft it wherever you are.
  4. Use it. The game's text: "Removes the Fell Curse upon use. Also applies a buff that prevents the curse from affecting the user for an hour."

Craft two

The tonic stacks to 20. A spare in your bag lets you cure the curse the moment it shows, and the cure then protects you for 60 minutes.

Step 2: Cure Hemotoxin

Hemotoxin stops your health regeneration, and per the game's text it builds up from "repeated exposure to poison". Its cure is the Hemotoxin Antidote, behind another Alchemist side quest, A Cure For Hemotoxin (level 10).

  1. Talk to the Alchemist (the quest's first step again).
  2. Get 2 [Spider Gland](/enshrouded/resources/spider-gland). Item text: "A gland that's seemingly dripping with poison. Don't think about it too much, or the visual will haunt your dreams. Found on poison-spitting spiders and can be used in crafting to produce an antidote to Hemotoxin."
  3. Catch 1 [Moth](/enshrouded/resources/moth). The quest says moths can only be caught at night; the wiki text on our Moth page says Revelwood.
  4. Craft the antidote by hand (2× Spider Gland + 1× Moth, no station) and use it. "Removes the Hemotoxin debuff upon use. Also applies a buff that prevents the hemotoxin from affecting the user for an hour."

The plain Antidote is a different item

The files also hold an ordinary Antidote (and a Greater Antidote) that the Alchemist crafts from a Poison Sack. They list no effect we can read, so we do not claim they remove Hemotoxin. The item you need is the Hemotoxin Antidote.

Step 3: Shroud Fatigue has no cure

The game's text: "By using Shroud magic, your Time in the Shroud is reduced by 4 minutes." It lasts 15 minutes and there is no potion for it in the files, so you wait it out or cover the lost time. The same goes for Elixir Crazed, a 30-minute debuff whose text says the Elixir "takes its toll" on your Time in the Shroud.

To cover 4 lost minutes, one Greater Shroud Survival Flask gives +4 minutes of Shroud time. These are the five consumables with the biggest bonus:

ItemShroud timeType
Greater Shroud Survival Flask+4 minFlask
Shroud Meteor Scroll+4 minScroll or other
Glimmer Gentian Tea+3 minDish
Shadowbloom Wrap+2.5 minDish
Calla Luna Soup+2 minDish

What the files do not say

The text names "Shroud magic" as the cause but does not say which spell or item. Until we can read that, we do not name one.

Step 4: How to avoid all three

None of this can be prevented for good, but you can cut the odds and shorten the pain.

  1. Cure just before a long hunt, not after. Either cure makes you immune to that debuff for 60 minutes, so a fresh tonic before a Fell camp in the Shroud covers the whole fight.
  2. Know what the curse is tied to. The world setting says the curse is a chance "when being attacked by the corresponding enemies", and the quest text blames a fight against the Fell. The files do not list which attacks, so we cannot tell you which hits to dodge.
  3. Lower the chance in your world settings. The setting "Modify Shroud curse" has the options Easy (which turns the feature off); Normal; Hard (which doubles the chance relative to normal). The presets set it to Relaxed Easy, Default Normal, Hard Normal, Survival Hard. On a server only the host can change it. The Shroud guide has the table.
  4. Be careful in poison fights. Hemotoxin builds up from repeated poison exposure, per the game's text. We cannot say how many poisonings it takes.

What the 1.0 files do not tell us

Not in the files: the exact chance or trigger of the Fell Curse (only the setting above), which Shroud magic causes Shroud Fatigue, and what the ordinary Antidote removes. If you know one from play, we would rather add it with a source than guess.
