Are There Mounts in Enshrouded? (1.0)
No. We found no mount, saddle or ride flag in the Enshrouded 1.0 game files. The animals you can keep are 9 farm animals and 6 pets, and none of them carries a rider. You cross the world with a glider, a grappling hook, 40 teleport platforms and a few pieces of gear that raise sprint speed.

Players ask because the world is big and a horse would fit it. This page answers the question first, then shows what the files give you to cover the same ground.
Everything below comes from the 1.0 game files on this site. We say what we looked for, and we say where the files stop.
What we checked
We searched the 1.0 server files (items, recipes, templates, world entities) and the client's item and text tables for mount, saddle and ride settings. The only hits were the weapon Wall Mounts, which are house decoration, mountain names, and flavour text on a pair of boots and a helmet (“ride as swift as the bluejays”, “riding into battle”). Neither is a mount.
The animals the journal lists are 9 farm animals (you keep them for milk, eggs and the like) and 6 pets, cats and dogs. See animals and pets for what they do. None of them has a rider slot in the files.
One caveat. Absence in the files we read is not proof that nothing is planned, and we do not guess about future updates. If the developers add rideable creatures, the patch notes will say so and this page will change.
Glider and grappling hook
These two do the job a mount would. The files hold 4 gliders (Glider, Advanced Glider, Extraordinary Glider, Ghost Glider) and 3 grappling hooks (Grappling Hook, Improved Grappling Hook, Underwater Grappling Hook). Recipes, the quests that hand them out and the skills that help are in the glider and grappling hook guide.
The map is built for them. Our map shows 1,249 grapple points, 134 updrafts, 178 jump pads and 496 climbing walls, all read from the 1.0 server files. Hook to a point, glide off a ridge, catch an updraft: a long trip is a chain of short ones.
Two skills help here. Airborne (Ranger, 1 point × 3 ranks) lowers glider stamina use, and Double Jump (Core, 2 points) is an active skill that gives you a second jump in the air.
Fast travel
The server files place 40 Teleport Platforms across the world. They are the fast-travel points, and our map has them as the Fast Travel layer. The wiki's map data also lists the Ancient Spires as fast-travel landmarks, from before 1.0; we have not re-checked that against the files.
What the files do not tell us is the rule for unlocking a platform, so we do not state one. Use the map to plan your route from platform to platform.
Gear that makes you faster
Several armor pieces raise sprint speed. The values are the 1.0 client's own labelled lines: [Alpine Antler Trousers](/enshrouded/armor/alpine-antler-trousers), [Eagle Eye Trousers](/enshrouded/armor/eagle-eye-trousers), [Elite Hollow Pants](/enshrouded/armor/elite-hollow-pants), [Guard of the North Pants](/enshrouded/armor/guard-of-the-north-pants), [Quetzal Hunter Pants](/enshrouded/armor/quetzal-hunter-pants) carry +12% each, and the Wanderer's Boots +6%. Underwater, Swimfins adds +30% swim sprint speed.
Choose a piece for its main stats first and treat the speed as a bonus. All the pieces are in the armor catalog.
All 7 pieces with a sprint-speed line
| Piece | Speed | Other lines |
|---|---|---|
| Alpine Antler Trousers | +12% sprint | + 23 Stamina, + 2 Frost Resistance |
| Eagle Eye Trousers | +12% sprint | + 22 Stamina, + 2 Frost Resistance, + 120s Wet Duration Reduction |
| Elite Hollow Pants | +12% sprint | + 9 Stamina, + 8 Mana Regeneration |
| Guard of the North Pants | +12% sprint | + 9 Stamina, - 60s Time in the Shroud |
| Quetzal Hunter Pants | +12% sprint | + 27 Stamina, + 120s Wet Duration Reduction |
| Wanderer's Boots | +6% sprint | + 5 Stamina Regeneration |
| Swimfins | +30% swim sprint | + 18 Stamina Regeneration, - 0.25s Stamina Regeneration Delay, + 90s Wet Duration Reduction |
Skills and flasks for stamina
Runner (Ranger, 1 point × 3 ranks) is the passive that ties to sprint speed and sprint stamina use in the files. Its per-rank numbers are unlabelled there, so we do not print them. See the skill tree to take it.
We found no consumable among the 1.0 consumables that raises run speed. The one sprint flask in the files is the Diver's Endurance Flask, which cuts stamina use while sprint swimming by 20%.
A simple way to cross the map
Put the pieces in this order and long trips stop being slow.
- Get the glider and the hook early. Both come from the Blacksmith's quests or the Workbench; see the guide.
- Plan on the map, not in the field. Switch on the grapple, updraft and jump-pad layers and pick a chain of points toward your goal.
- Use the platforms as anchors. Base your trips on the fast-travel points and travel between them rather than across the whole map.
- Put speed on your legs. If two leg pieces are close, take the one with the sprint-speed line.
- Spend skill points last. Double Jump and Airborne are nice, but combat skills come first.
