Enshrouded Base Building (1.0): Altars, Storage, Water
A base is a Flame Altar and its build zone: 40 m a side at first, 160 m at its largest. Blocks come from the Workbench (69 block recipes in the 1.0 files), chests and Magic Chests from the Carpenter, water from a Water Dispenser or a well — and your Flame level caps how many altars (2 → 16) and water sources (1 → 50) you may place.

Where to put the base is in base locations on the map; this guide is what goes into it. Every recipe below is read from the 1.0 recipe table, with the names the files confirm — items without an English name are counted, not named.
Start with a Flame Altar
Claiming an altar costs 1× Shroud Core. Each altar level widens the zone you may build in; the last upgrade costs Shroud Nexus instead of Shroud Cores.
| Altar level | Build zone | Next upgrade costs |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 40 m | 1× Shroud Core |
| 2 | 80 m | 5× Shroud Core |
| 3 | 120 m | 5× Shroud Nexus |
| 4 | 160 m | — (largest zone) |
What your Flame level allows
The 1.0 balancing table ties two base limits to the Flame: how many Flame Altars you may place and how many water sources. Upgrading the Flame is also what opens each region, and Keen's 1.0 changelog adds: "Now, every time the Flame gets upgraded, the armor sets for the following crafting tier get automatically unlocked."
| Flame | Flame Altars | Water sources | Next upgrade opens |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2 | 1 | Springlands |
| 2 | 4 | 1 | Revelwood |
| 3 | 6 | 1 | Nomad Highlands |
| 4 | 8 | 5 | Kindlewastes |
| 5 | 10 | 10 | Albaneve Summits |
| 6 | 11 | 20 | Albaneve Summits |
| 7 | 12 | 30 | Veilwater Basin |
| 8 | 13 | 40 | Veilwater Basin |
| 9 | 14 | 50 | Cinder's Cradle |
| 10 | 15 | 50 | Cinder's Cradle |
| 11 | 16 | 50 | — |
Blocks, and the stations that unlock more

Beds, music and rest
The beds the files name, with what they cost. For music, the 1.0 balancing table caps the comfort that instruments add at 15 and counts at most 4 instruments; the Bard makes 5 (one, the Handpan, Hand Drum, Flute, Harp, Lute, has an English name). How much comfort each bed or prop gives is not in the files we read, so we don't list it.
The Well Rested skill (Core, 3 ranks, 1 point each) raises the Rested buff's minimum duration.
