Enshrouded Mage Skill Tree

Ranged casters. Lean into Fire, Ice, Shock, and Healing — stack INT + Spirit, pair with Life Essences and Counterstrike to survive at range.

About the Mage archetype

Mage is one of the three class areas of Enshrouded's 1.0 skill tree, Warrior, Ranger and Mage, which hang off a Core that every build can reach. There is no class to pick: a Mage is a character that spends its points here. The area holds 50 skills and 22 attribute pips, and the pips raise Spirit and Intelligence.

The weapon specialization node here is Wand Specialization.

Its nodes cover staffs and wands: fire, ice, shock and Shroud damage, healing auras and summons.

Hallmark skills

  • Wand Specialization — Active skill, 3 points. Pre-1.0 wiki: “Unlocks Special Abilities of Wands.” In 2 of our builds: Endgame Meta and Wand Archmage.
  • Spellslinger — Passive, 1 point per rank, 3 ranks. Value in the 1.0 files: 5% per rank. Pre-1.0 wiki: “Staff damage is increased by 5%.” In our Necromancer Glass Cannon build.
  • Totem Mastery — Passive, 2 points per rank, 3 ranks. Value in the 1.0 files: 1 per rank. Keen's 1.0 notes: “more totems!” In our Summoner build.
  • Water Aura — Active skill, 1 point per rank, 3 ranks. Value in the 1.0 files: 5 per rank. Pre-1.0 wiki: “You emit a healing aura.” In 7 of our builds: Fire Mage Starter, Battlemage Hybrid, Necromancer Glass Cannon, Healer Support, Endgame Meta, Summoner and Radiant Paladin.
  • Radiant Aura — Active skill, 1 point per rank, 3 ranks. Values in the 1.0 files: 1 per rank · 2 per rank. Pre-1.0 wiki: “All Fell foes within 5 meters take 1 fire damage per intelligence per second.” In 3 of our builds: Fire Mage Starter, Endgame Meta and Radiant Paladin.

Our builds that spend every point in the Mage: Necromancer Glass Cannon (67), Wand Archmage (65), Summoner (47), Ice Mage — Crowd Control (43) and Fire Mage Starter (27). Builds that mix the Mage with another area: Endgame Meta (118 Warrior, 88 Mage, 6 Core), Healer Support (33 Mage, 1 Core), Battlemage Hybrid (30 Warrior, 28 Mage), Radiant Paladin (25 Mage, 22 Warrior), Solo Adventurer Hybrid (13 Ranger, 13 Mage, 11 Warrior, 2 Core) and Starter — First 10 Levels (8 Mage, 7 Warrior, 2 Ranger, 1 Core).

The numbers are skill points, read from each build's tree.

Nothing locks you into Mage: you can respec. Keen Games, Souls of the Frozen Frontier notes (2024-11-05): “Each spent skill point costs 1 rune.”

Mage starter builds by level

The order our Fire Mage Starter build buys its nodes in, cut every 5 levels. Levels count level-ups alone, 2 points each; Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells get you there sooner.

Each step opens in the planner with everything bought so far.

  • Mage Apprentice ×3, 3 Intelligence pips, 1 Spirit pip. 7 of the build's 27 points.

  • Arsonist ×3, Fire Resistance, Radiant Aura, Healer, Counterstrike, 1 Spirit pip. 18 of the build's 27 points.

  • Eternal Spark, Water Aura, Mana Currents, 3 Spirit pips, 3 Intelligence pips. That is the whole Fire Mage Starter build: 27 points.

Mage sub-trees (4)

The pre-1.0 wiki split Mage into 4 sub-trees; 1.0 has none. Each page shows where that group’s skills sit on the 1.0 tree and which of our builds play the role.

Mage skill tree FAQ

What does the Mage archetype focus on in Enshrouded?
Mage is one of the three class areas of the 1.0 skill tree, not a class you pick: 50 skills and 22 attribute pips, which raise Spirit and Intelligence. Its nodes cover staffs and wands: fire, ice, shock and Shroud damage, healing auras and summons. The weapon specialization node in the Mage area is Wand Specialization.
What's the best starter build for Mage in Enshrouded?
We don't rank builds. The steps above follow our Fire Mage Starter build: 27 skill points, all of them bought by level 15 from level-ups alone (2 points per level; Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells add more). Our other Mage builds are on /enshrouded/builds/archetype/mage.
Can you mix Mage with other archetypes in Enshrouded?
Yes. There is no class to pick: every character shares one skill tree and spends its points where it wants. 6 of our builds mix the Mage with another area, for example Endgame Meta, Healer Support and Battlemage Hybrid. Changing your mind costs runes — Keen Games, Souls of the Frozen Frontier notes (2024-11-05): “Each spent skill point costs 1 rune.”
Which weapons pair best with Mage in Enshrouded?
The weapon specialization node in the Mage area is Wand Specialization. Its nodes cover staffs and wands: fire, ice, shock and Shroud damage, healing auras and summons. The full weapon catalog is at /enshrouded/weapons, and our Mage builds list their weapons on /enshrouded/builds/archetype/mage.
How many skill points to fully unlock the Mage tree?
Buying every rank of the 50 skills listed here costs 188 skill points (costs and ranks from the 1.0 skill tree). Level-ups give 2 points per level up to level 50, and Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells add more, 212 in all.
