Gear

Only weapons and sets we can match to an item in the 1.0 game files. Tiers come from those files; a “likely match” agrees on 4–5 of 5 perk slots rather than all of them.

Not placed in the world: enemy drops, ore veins in the terrain, chests’ random loot or trade.

No recipe in the 1.0 files (found, not crafted): Shepherd's Lightning, Blizzard Wand.

One of each piece, from the 1.0 recipes, intermediate crafts rounded up to whole batches. Map counts are placements, not ore veins.

Where most of it sits together: the 1.2 km × 800 m area of Springlands that covers the largest share of what the gear above needs, cut from our map. Dots are the same colours as the map draws them; a spot that gives several of the materials shows one dot for each.

Variants

The same build with another weapon, spell or arrow. A variant with its own tree opens in the planner on its own; green is what it adds, red what it gives up.

  • Blizzard

Blizzard in the staff: the 1.0 files hold it as an ice spell tagged as an area attack, at the tiers below. No re-spend — Iceman, at full rank in this build, raises magic ice damage.

FAQ

Ice Mage vs Fire Mage — which is better?
They share the Intelligence and Mage Apprentice core. Fire Mage brings Radiant Aura and Counterstrike; Ice Mage brings Frost, which slows a melee attacker (its pre-1.0 description), plus Wizard and Chain Hit. Pick by what the enemies in front of you resist.
Best staff for Ice Mage?
Darya's Staff with ice spells: a staff deals what its spell deals, and the 1.0 files hold Mage ice spells from item level 5. Quick Charge only speeds up staff spells. The only ice weapon of its own we can place in the 1.0 files is the Coiling Wand, and it arrives at T5.
Does this build work without a co-op partner?
Yes. By their pre-1.0 descriptions Frost slows whatever hits you in melee and Ice Resistance cuts the ice damage you take — the 1.0 files store them at 3 s and 5% per rank. The build is 43 points, complete by level 23.
