Sulfur is concentrated in one volcano: Mt. Obsidian holds 163 of the 288 nodes we map, more than every other region put together. Verdant Brook (40) and Bamboo Grove (35) are the next clusters, then Sakurajima (19). A base inside the Mt. Obsidian cluster is the one worth dedicating to sulfur.
The nodes need a Metal Pickaxe (Technology Lv 11); a Stone Pickaxe will not break them. Pierdon is the only Pal that drops Sulfur, 4-5 on every kill, with 4-5 Ore on the same kill. Sulfur is the gating ingredient for Gunpowder, so a sulfur run usually means firearms or explosives are next.
