Frequently asked questions
What is a schematic in Palworld?
A schematic is a paper item you keep in your inventory. While held, it unlocks a higher-rarity version of a recipe — Uncommon, Rare, Epic, or Legendary — at the relevant workbench. The schematic itself is never consumed by crafting; remove it from inventory and the unlocked recipe disappears.
How do I use a schematic?
Keep the schematic in your character's inventory (not a base storage chest). Walk up to the workbench listed in the schematic's description — most are Production Assembly Line II or High Quality Workbench. The unlocked recipe appears in that bench's crafting list as long as the schematic stays on you.
Where do schematics drop?
Schematics drop from boss-tower fights, alpha-Pal kills, dungeon end chests, raid bosses, and high-tier wandering merchants. Higher rarities (Epic, Legendary) come from end-game content; Uncommon and Rare tiers show up from mid-game alphas and dungeons. We don't list per-schematic drop sources yet — they vary across regions and aren't in our item dataset.
Do I lose a schematic after crafting?
No. Schematics are non-consumable. You can craft the unlocked recipe as many times as you have the ingredients for. The schematic only disappears from the crafting menu if you drop it, store it in a chest, or remove it from your inventory.
What's the difference between a schematic and a blueprint?
Functionally they work the same way — both unlock higher-rarity recipes when held. paldb labels them slightly differently depending on the item family (hats, accessories, and some armor use 'Blueprint'; weapons and most armor use 'Schematic'). We list both on this page.
