How to Get Sulfur in Palworld

There are 288 sulfur nodes on the Palpagos map. 163 of them — more than every other region combined — sit in Mt. Obsidian, the volcanic southwest. Below: a region-by-region breakdown, the best mining Pals, and a base setup that farms it passively.

All 15 sulfur clusters, from mid game to late

Every knot of three or more sulfur nodes on our map — 15 of them, 91 nodes in total — grouped by region and ordered by the level band you can survive there. Counts are inside one base radius (12 map units), so each number is what a single base reaches. Sulfur has no early-game cluster; the first one sits in the Lv 10-20 band.

The best place to farm Sulfur

Mt. Obsidian holds 163 of the island's 288 sulfur nodes (57%) — more than every other region combined.

It's an endgame-tier volcanic biome that deals fire and heat damage, so bring Heat Resistant Pelt Armor and ideally a Fire-immune mining Pal. Once you're geared, set a base inside a cluster and the nodes farm themselves.

Backup spots: Verdant Brook (40), Bamboo Grove (35), Sakurajima (19) — smaller fields; Verdant Brook and Bamboo Grove sit at lower levels, Sakurajima does not.

What Sulfur crafts into

The passive Sulfur Mine

Once you reach its Technology level, the Sulfur Mine base structure turns Pal labour into a continuous sulfur drip — no more field runs. Any Pal with Mining Lv 1 can staff it; a higher Mining level only shortens the cycle. Quick reference:

Staff it with Digtoise, Anubis, or any other mining Pal (full list in the best mining Pals guide). Work-speed passives such as Artisan shorten the cycle further. What they do not do is unlock anything: the requirement to staff this building is Mining Lv 1, the same as the Stone Pit.

The 100 Sulfur you spend building it comes back out of the mine, so past the first stretch it is pure gain. We do not print an hours figure — that depends on the Pal you assign, its passives and your world settings, and nothing we ship models it.

Sulfur in dungeons (early-game safe source)

Mt. Obsidian is the canonical answer, but it is a level 2 hot zone: you take damage there without heat resistance level 2, which means Heat Resistant Metal, Refined Metal or Pal Metal armour. Pelt armour is level 1 and will not stop it. Until then, the safest sulfur is inside dungeons: a fraction of dungeons spawn sulfur node deposits in the deeper rooms, and the boss-clear chest sometimes drops a stack of raw sulfur as a guaranteed reward. Run any dungeon you find via the dungeon map — it's slower per-hour than Mt. Obsidian but doesn't require armor you can't craft yet.

Where do you find Sulfur in Palworld?
Sulfur comes from sulfur nodes — the yellow-crusted mineral rocks concentrated in the volcanic parts of the map. Mt. Obsidian holds the largest share by a wide margin; Verdant Brook is the next-best source, followed by Bamboo Grove, with smaller pockets on Sakurajima, in Twilight Dunes, the Windswept Hills, and the Outlying Isles.
What is the best place to farm Sulfur?
Mt. Obsidian — the volcanic region in the southwest. It holds more sulfur nodes than every other region combined. The terrain is endgame-tier and deals fire/heat damage, so bring heat-resistant armor and ideally a Fire-immune mining Pal like Blazamut. Set a base near a node cluster to farm it passively.
Which Pal is best for mining Sulfur?
Any Pal with Mining Lv 2 or better works. Because most sulfur sits in lava terrain, a Fire-element or Fire-immune miner is ideal — Blazamut (Mining Lv 7) shrugs off the heat. Since 1.0 raised the work-suitability ceiling, Lv 7 is no longer the top of the chart: Aegidron, a World Tree Pal, mines at Lv 8. For a base you can staff without a World Tree trip, Astegon (Mining Lv 7) and Anubis (Mining Lv 6) remain the strongest picks; Digtoise (Mining Lv 4) is the easiest early catch.
What is Sulfur used for in Palworld?
Sulfur is the backbone of Palworld's ammunition and explosives economy — it feeds the Gunpowder line that your firearms, shells, and grenades depend on. If you're building toward gun-based combat or explosives, you'll be farming sulfur regularly, which is why a Mt. Obsidian base pays off.
Do Sulfur nodes respawn?
Yes — about 30 minutes of real time per node, the same figure our map's own marker text gives, so an empty-looking spot is usually on cooldown rather than missing. Build a base inside a node cluster, assign two or three mining Pals, and the pile refills itself while you handle other content.
Can you mine Sulfur early in the game?
It's possible but slow. The richest sulfur fields are in Mt. Obsidian, an endgame-level volcanic zone that punishes underleveled players. Early on you can pick up the smaller Bamboo Grove and Twilight Dunes deposits; the serious sulfur farm opens up once you can survive the volcano.
