How to Get Sulfur in Palworld
261 Sulfur nodes sit across Palpagos Islands, and 156 of them — more than every other region combined — cluster in Mt. Obsidian, the volcanic northeast. Below: the per-region breakdown, the mining Pals that survive the lava and clear nodes fastest, and how to farm sulfur passively.

The best place to farm Sulfur
Mt. Obsidian is the answer — 156 of the island's 261 sulfur nodes (60%) sit in this one volcanic biome.
It's endgame terrain: lava fields deal heat damage, so pack heat-resistant armor and ideally a Fire-immune mining Pal. Once you've unlocked the region's fast-travel statue, drop a base in a node cluster and let assigned miners refill the pile.
Backup biomes: Astral Mountains (42), Bamboo Grove (15), Sakurajima (DLC) (15). The Bamboo Grove and Twilight Dunes deposits are the most accessible if you're not yet ready for the volcano.
Best mining Pals for sulfur
Sulfur nodes break to any mining-capable Pal, but the volcanic terrain rewards Fire-immune workers. Higher Mining Lv means faster breaks and bigger passive yield — all four below are verified on our mining tier list.
AstegonMining Lv 4S-tier endgame miner (Mining Lv 4). It also spawns around the volcanic regions where sulfur lives, so you can catch and farm in the same trip.
BlazamutMining Lv 4Mining Lv 4 Fire alpha from Mt. Obsidian — the same region with the most sulfur. Fire-immune, so the lava terrain doesn't chip its HP.
AnubisMining Lv 3A-tier generalist (Mining Lv 3 + Handiwork Lv 4). The best all-round worker to leave on a sulfur base.
DigtoiseMining Lv 3Mid-game Mining Lv 3 and an easy catch. Its rolling attack chews through mineral nodes hands-free.
Frequently asked questions
Where do you find Sulfur in Palworld?
Sulfur comes from sulfur nodes — the yellow-crusted mineral rocks concentrated in the volcanic parts of the map. Mt. Obsidian holds the largest share by a wide margin; the Astral Mountains are the next-best source, with smaller pockets in Bamboo Grove, Twilight Dunes, and on Sakurajima.
What is the best place to farm Sulfur?
Mt. Obsidian — the volcanic region in the northeast. It holds more sulfur nodes than every other region combined. The terrain is endgame-tier and deals fire/heat damage, so bring heat-resistant armor and ideally a Fire-immune mining Pal like Blazamut. Set a base near a node cluster to farm it passively.
Which Pal is best for mining Sulfur?
Any mining-capable Pal works. Because most sulfur sits in lava terrain, a Fire-element or Fire-immune miner is ideal — Blazamut (Mining Lv 4) shrugs off the heat. For a general base, Astegon (Mining Lv 4) and Anubis (Mining Lv 3) are the strongest picks; Digtoise (Mining Lv 3) is the easiest early catch.
What is Sulfur used for in Palworld?
Sulfur is the backbone of Palworld's ammunition and explosives economy — it feeds the Gunpowder line that your firearms, shells, and grenades depend on. If you're building toward gun-based combat or explosives, you'll be farming sulfur regularly, which is why a Mt. Obsidian base pays off.
Do Sulfur nodes respawn?
Yes. Like other mineral nodes, sulfur regenerates on a real-time cycle of roughly one in-game day. Build a base inside a node cluster, assign two or three mining Pals, and the pile refills itself while you handle other content.
Can you mine Sulfur early in the game?
It's possible but slow. The richest sulfur fields are in Mt. Obsidian, an endgame-level volcanic zone that punishes underleveled players. Early on you can pick up the smaller Bamboo Grove and Twilight Dunes deposits; the serious sulfur farm opens up once you can survive the volcano.
