There are 261 sulfur nodes on the Palpagos map. 156 of them — more than every other region combined — sit in Mt. Obsidian, the volcanic northeast. Below: a region-by-region breakdown, the best mining Pals, and a base setup that farms it passively.

Every sulfur-node pin counted from the live map, sorted by density. Click a region to jump to its full marker list.
Mt. Obsidian holds 156 of the island's 261 sulfur nodes (60%) — more than every other region combined.
It's an endgame-tier volcanic biome that deals fire and heat damage, so bring Heat Resistant Pelt Armor and ideally a Fire-immune mining Pal. Once you're geared, set a base inside a cluster and the nodes farm themselves.
Backup spots: Astral Mountains (42), Bamboo Grove (15), Sakurajima (DLC) (15) — smaller but accessible at lower levels.
Mining Lv 3+ is the floor for clearing sulfur nodes at a reasonable pace. Full ranking in the mining tier list.

S-tier endgame miner (Mining Lv 4). It also spawns around the volcanic regions where sulfur lives, so you can catch and farm in the same trip.

Mining Lv 4 Fire alpha from Mt. Obsidian — the same region with the most sulfur. Fire-immune, so the lava terrain doesn't chip its HP.

A-tier generalist (Mining Lv 3 + Handiwork Lv 4). The best all-round worker to leave on a sulfur base.

Mid-game Mining Lv 3 and an easy catch. Its rolling attack chews through mineral nodes hands-free.
If you've cleared the Sakurajima tech tree, the Sulfur Mine base structure converts Mining-Lv-3+ Pal labour into a continuous sulfur drip — no more field runs. Quick reference:

Build cost
Staff it with Digtoise, Anubis, or any other Mining Lv 3+ Pal (full list in the best mining Pals guide). For maximum throughput, run a Lucky / Artisan passive stack on the assigned miner and the mine doubles its per-hour yield.
Build cost re-circulates — the mine's 100 Sulfur upfront is recovered in roughly the first ~4 game hours, then it pays back every cycle after.
Mt. Obsidian is the canonical answer but the volcano biome damages you without Heat Resistant Pelt Armor (Lv 30) — a non-starter at Lv 15–25. Until then, the safest sulfur is inside dungeons: a fraction of dungeons spawn sulfur node deposits in the deeper rooms, and the boss-clear chest sometimes drops a stack of raw sulfur as a guaranteed reward. Run any dungeon you find via the dungeon map — it's slower per-hour than Mt. Obsidian but doesn't require armor you can't craft yet.
