The short answer
Every Ancient Bark stump we have mapped stands inside No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary, a region of its own south-southwest of the Windswept Hills. It is a guarded reserve, so expect a fight or a careful approach. You need a Pal with Lumbering level 1 to cut a stump, each has 4,500 HP and they respawn on a 30-minute cycle, so one trip can be worked more than once. No Pal drops it. Four recipes consume it, including Air Walker Mk I.

What you need to take Ancient Bark
- Work neededLumbering Lv 1
- Node HP4,500
- Respawn30 min
Lumbering level decides how fast a node comes apart, and some resources set a floor as well: this one needs Lumbering 1 before a Pal can work it at all. Ranked from the work-suitability data, where the Palworld 1.0 ceiling is 8.
What else is in No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary
Everything here sits in the same place as the Ancient Bark. If the trip costs you something to make, make it count.

Bring the right worker, not just the right weapon
Ancient Bark is a Lumbering resource, not a Mining one — its sibling Ancient Lava needs Mining level 2 instead. A deforestation Pal that shreds ordinary trees will handle these stumps; a miner will stand there doing nothing.
