Palworld Base Limit: How Many Bases Can You Have?
You can have 4 bases per guild by default. You start with one; the 2nd base unlocks at base level 8, the 3rd at 15 and the 4th at 25. Base level is not your player level — it rises as you clear the Base Missions at your Palbox. On a dedicated server, the BaseCampMaxNumInGuild setting raises the limit to as many as 10.

When each base unlocks
The game's base level table gives every level a number of bases per guild. With default settings it tops out at 4, reached at base level 25.

Plan for this: the missions before the 4th base include 4 Ancient Technology structures — Summoning Altar, Guild Chest, High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor and Large-Scale Electric Egg Incubator. Those are bought with Ancient Technology Points, not regular ones (see the tech tree).

Pick a base level to see how many bases your guild may hold, how many Pals can work at one base, and which missions take it to the next level. Work Pals are capped twice: by the base level, and by the world settings — 15 in every built-in difficulty preset (Easy, Normal, Hard, Hardcore). The lower number applies, so the base level stops mattering for workers from level 15 unless the setting is raised.

Each row is what a base level grants and the missions that take it to the next one. The level table itself allows up to 30 work Pals (from level 30); with default world settings a base still holds 15.

How to change the base limit
Both limits — bases per guild and work Pals per base — are settings, in a world you host and on a dedicated server alike.
Single-player & co-op
A world you host
On the world select screen, Change World Settings opens the world settings. They carry both limits; the game labels them:
Setting“Maximum number of bases for each guild.”
Setting“Maximum number of work pals at the base.”
Every built-in difficulty preset sets work Pals per base to 15. Raising a limit comes with the game's own warning: “Increasing the limit may affect processing load.”
Not stated in any source we hold: the range these two options accept in a hosted world, so we do not print one.
Dedicated server
PalWorldSettings.ini
- Copy
DefaultPalWorldSettings.inito the server's config folder asPalWorldSettings.ini. - Edit the copy — Pocketpair notes that editing the default file changes nothing.
Windows:
steamapps\common\PalServer\Pal\Saved\Config\WindowsServer\PalWorldSettings.iniLinux:
steamapps/common/PalServer/Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.iniBaseCampMaxNumInGuilddefault: 4max: 10“Maximum number of bases per guild. Default: 4 (max 10).”
“Increasing this value raises processing load.”
BaseCampWorkerMaxNumdefault: not stated (presets: 15)max: 50“Maximum number of Pals per base (max 50).”
“Increasing this value raises processing load.”
BaseCampMaxNumdefault: not stated“Total number of bases across the server.”
Unconfirmed: how a raised server value combines with the base level table — whether base levels still gate bases past 4, or whether a work-Pal setting above a level's own number lifts that base past it. No source we hold states it.

When you hit the limit
Placing one Palbox too many stops with this message — and it names both ways out:
In game“Cannot build any more bases. Increase the level of your guild's base or disassemble a base via the map.”
1. Raise the base level
Clear the Base Missions at a Palbox. The next base opens at the levels in the table above, up to 4 in all.
2. Dismantle a base from the map
The world map offers “Dismantle the base”. Before it goes, the game warns:
- Structures not placeable outside of base will be disassembled.
- Some structures will not be disassembled and will remain.
- All Pals at this base will be stored in your Palbox.
- Doing this will not cause any of your Pals to disappear. Once disassembled, Palbox cannot be restored!
The limit belongs to the guild, not the player
Pocketpair's setting is “bases per guild”, and the game's guild tip says players in one guild share a base. In co-op, everyone in your guild draws on the same 4. Joining a guild can fail on it:
Guild tip“Players within the same guild share a base and their working Pals.”
Joining a guild“Max number of bases exceeded. Failed to join guild. Dismantling a base is required.”
Two other base messages
In game“Too close to another base.”
In game“The world has reached its max capacity for bases.”
The second is the server-wide cap, BaseCampMaxNum (“Total number of bases across the server.”), not your guild's.
