Legendary Parts in 7DTD: Where to Find Them

The part's own text says it is used to craft legendary quality 6 armor, tools and weapons. No trader stocks it. It comes from loot, from buried supplies and from one quest reward.

The map places 69 hardened chests in 69 POIs. Both loot lists of the chest (tier 4 and tier 5) can hold 1 to 2 Legendary Parts from loot stage 15. By POI rating: 24 in 5-skull POIs, 45 in 4-skull POIs. None stands in an easier POI, so this is a mid-game and late-game source.

The numbers on the map are the 8 lowest-rated of those POIs, nearest to a trader first. Red dots are 4-skull POIs, purple dots are 5-skull. Each number opens the chest on our interactive map.

4 loot lists open from loot stage 1, the lowest gate of any source: Buried Food Stash (buriedSuppliesT1), Buried Food Stash (introBuriedSupplies), Buried Supplies and Treasure Cache. Each rolls 1. Buried Supplies is a trader quest type offered in tiers 1, 2 and 3, so it is the earliest route.

The files do not say how often these lists give the part, only that it can appear. Treat it as a bonus on top of the quest reward, not as a farm.

22 everyday loot lists can hold one part from loot stage 15. They stand all over the world, so none is mapped, but the list tells you where to search: wardrobes, desks and bedrooms, mortuaries, police cars and army trucks.

6 lists can roll up to 1–2: Hardened Chest (hardenedChestT4), Hardened Chest (hardenedChestT5), Hidden Stash, Leather Trunk, Reinforced Chest and Wood Crate.

The trader file says: "Special reward for completing all tiers of quests." and the fixed reward is Legendary Parts. That is one part for completing every quest tier with a trader. It is the only guaranteed source in the files, but the file does not say whether it repeats per trader. The part is flagged as a quest reward in the item data.

The 103 quality-6 recipes in the gear, tool and mod files each take exactly 1 Legendary Part: 60 armor pieces (15 sets), 29 weapons (11 melee, 18 ranged), 13 tools and 1 mod. The items page lists 108 recipes in all (it also counts the large backpack, the lead car battery and three robotic items). So the parts are a limit on how many quality-6 pieces you can make, not a cost that scales.
