Solar Bank in 7 Days to Die

ByYurii LuzhkoSource: 7 Days to Die V3.3 game files
Power sourceNot craftable

“Used to generate power for your electrical components.”

The Solar Bank can't be crafted — the files give it no recipe. You buy it from traders, who can roll it from trader stage 55, or find it in loot. Fit it with up to six Solar Cells (journal tip): each adds 30 to its output (OutputPerStack) and the bank's MaxPower is 180. It makes power only in daylight and direct sun (journal tip) and, unlike the Generator Bank, has no fuel tank in blocks.xml.

Solar Cells

“Place solar cells into a solar cell bank to generate power.”

No recipe: cells are bought or looted. Every trader's general stock rolls 2–4 of them (traders.xml), in qualities 1–6; a higher quality needs a higher trader stage. Base value 12,000 (items.xml EconomicValue), and like a tool each has a durability (DegradationMax) that rises with quality.

The Solar Bank allows you to power your electrical components. It requires at least one solar cell to be installed, expandable up to six.

The maximum energy output is determined by the number of solar cells installed and their quality.

Solar banks produce power during the day when in direct sunlight.

Solar cells can be purchased from traders or found in loot.

Requires a wire tool to add and cut wires between electrical components.

How to wire the Solar Bank

Use a wiring tool to connect electrical components. The first component you attach the wire to will be the parent component.

Focus on any electrical component and use the secondary action to add a wire to that component. Repeat to complete the connection to a second component.

Focus on any electrical component and use the primary action to remove or cut that components wire to its parent component.

With the wire tool equipped you can see many useful things including: a components power usage and current power status, the flow of power represented on the wires by moving pulse from parent component to its child component and the aiming and view cone angle of objects with motion sensing capabilities.

A component can only have one parent or input, but can have multiple children or outputs.

The Battery Bank allows you to power your electrical components.

It requires at least one battery, expandable up to six. The maximum energy output is determined by the number of batteries installed and their quality.

An externally powered and turned on Battery Bank will recharge its batteries.

If there are no batteries installed it acts as a relay pushing power down the line.

Requires a wire tool to add and cut wires between electrical components.

Where to buy

Every trader can stock it — in the shared electrical list of their general stock, and Trader Bob carries it as a specialty too. It can appear from trader stage 55. Trader stage is your player level × (1 + the quest-tier bonus at that trader). Trader Bob · Trader Hugh · Trader Jen · Trader Joel · Trader Rekt

Solar Cells: 5 traders stock them in a list of their own, qualities 1–6.

Solar Bank — FAQ

How do you get a solar bank in 7 Days to Die?
Buy it or loot it: it has no recipe and no crafting-skill unlock. 5 traders can stock it, from trader stage 55; in loot it shares a list with the Solar Cell (Construction Site Box, Garage Storage, Mo Power Electronics Box, Shelf and Working Stiff Box).
How much power does a solar bank make?
blocks.xml gives 30 per installed Solar Cell and a MaxPower of 180, which is six cells' worth. The journal tip adds that the cells' quality affects the output too — by a rule that lives in the game code, not the files.
Do solar panels work at night in 7 Days to Die?
No. The game's own tip: "Solar banks produce power during the day when in direct sunlight." To keep power at night, wire a Battery Bank behind it — an externally powered Battery Bank recharges its batteries.
Can you craft solar cells?
No — the Solar Cell has no recipe in recipes.xml. Traders sell them in qualities 1 to 6 (quality 1 from trader stage 45, quality 6 from 95) and they turn up in loot.
