Sons of the Forest garden planner
Pick the plants you grow, how many of each, for how many days and how often you walk by. The planner counts the harvests and the items from the game's own growth data for all 17 plants.
Plants
| Plant | Grows in | Picks each | Items per pick | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aloe Vera | 2 d | 5 | 1-2 | 20-40 |
| Yarrow | 2 d | 5 | 1-2 | 20-40 |
| All chosen plants | 40-80 | |||
Mixes this garden can feed
- Health Mix (Aloe Vera + Yarrow): 20-40 from this garden, one of each herb per mix.
What the files say
- Every one of the 17 plants grows in 2 days, so no plant is quicker to start than another.
- The 11 herbs and mushrooms (Aloe Vera, Arrowleaf, Chicory, Devil's Club, Fireweed, Fly Amanita, Horsetail, Hydnum Repandum, King Oyster, Shiitake and Yarrow) give a harvest again 2 days after a pick. The 6 berry plants (Blackberry, Blueberry, Guarana, Salmonberry, Snowberry and Twinberry) have a regrow of 0.005 days in the file, so how often you pick them is up to your visits.
- Mushrooms (Fly Amanita, Hydnum Repandum, King Oyster and Shiitake) always give 2; everything else gives 1 to 2 per pick.
The formula
Ours, not the game's: a plant gives its first harvest after its grow days; you pick it when you pass by, so picks are limited by the slower of its regrow days and your visit gap. Picks = 1 + ⌊(days − grow days) ÷ max(regrow days, visit gap)⌋, and none if the days are fewer than the grow days. The yield range per pick comes straight from the file.
What the files do not say
- How many plants a planter holds, and whether winter slows or stops growth: the growth data has no season field, so the planner does not model winter.
- What a day is in real time. The planner counts game days, as the file does.
- The planters themselves: Standing Planter (18 Stick) and Wall Planter (16 Stick). More on the crafting page; what to make from the herbs is in how to heal.
