Bunkers are the sealed underground shelters that hold Sons of the Forest's best loot — the 3D printer, keycards, weapons and armor are all behind bunker doors. The map below pins every bunker and maintenance entrance; click a marker for its location screenshot or a teleport command.
Most bunker doors are locked behind keycards. The Maintenance keycard opens the maintenance tunnels and the Food bunker; the Guest / VIP keycard — found inside the Residential ("luxury") bunker — opens the higher-tier bunkers after that. Work through them in that order: Food → Residential → the deeper bunkers, saving the endgame bunker for when you're geared.
There are several distinct bunkers — the Food bunker, the Residential ("luxury") bunker, the Entertainment bunker, the Maintenance tunnels (A, B and C) and the endgame bunker — plus their surface hatches. The map above pins each entrance we've mapped.
Where is the VIP / luxury bunker in Sons of the Forest?▾
The "luxury" or "VIP" bunker players mean is the Residential bunker — it holds the guest keycard, the 3D printer and some of the strongest early loot. Filter to Bunkers above and open the Residential Bunker marker for its exact entrance on the map.
How do you open bunkers in Sons of the Forest?▾
Bunker doors need keycards. Grab the Maintenance keycard first (it opens the maintenance tunnels and the Food bunker), then the Guest / VIP keycard from the Residential bunker to reach the rest. A few hatches also need the shovel to dig them out.
What's the difference between caves and bunkers?▾
Caves are natural passages that hold your core tools (rope gun, rebreather, shovel, pickaxe). Bunkers are man-made shelters gated by keycards that hold the 3D printer, weapons, armor and the story path. See the cave map for the tool caves and this page for the keycard bunkers.
