Is Sons of the Forest crossplay?

No — Sons of the Forest has no crossplay or cross-platform play. The game is PC-exclusive on Steam, so there is no PlayStation, Xbox or Switch version to play across. PC players can team up in online co-op for up to 8 players, but everyone must be on PC.

Why there's no crossplay

Crossplay (or cross-platform play) means people on different systems — say PC and PlayStation — playing together in the same session. Sons of the Forest can't offer that for a simple reason: it only runs on one platform. Developer Endnight Games shipped it into Steam Early Access on February 23, 2023 and reached the full 1.0 release on February 22, 2024 — PC only, both times. With no console or handheld version, there is nothing to cross-play with. Every player in a co-op game is on a PC copy from Steam.

Is Sons of the Forest coming to PS5 or Xbox?

Not yet — and nothing is confirmed. Endnight has said it would be "really excited" to bring the game to PlayStation after the Early Access period, but the studio has stated it has no firm plans and has given no release date for any console version. As of 2026 there is still no PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch port. If a console release is ever announced, crossplay would only become possible if Endnight also chose to build it — so for now, PC is the only way to play.
