Fusion Reactor in The Planet Crafter: How to Build

Five steps. Each one names the item, where it is made and what the files say about its unlock.

The game's text for the building reads "Provides energy using nuclear fusion cells". The recipe lists 3 ingredients, but two of them are made from others, so I expanded the tree the way the calculator does. One craft of the reactor needs these raw materials in all:

Four rare ores go into the quartz: Osmium, Zeolite, Iridium and Uranium. Uranium is the narrow one: it is only on Humble and Toxicity, so plan the trip around it. Each ore page lists the pins per planet and the busiest part of each. The other six metals of the Super Alloy are common and have their own layers.

The Methane cartridge is the odd one. Its entry reads "Contains methane", it has no recipe and no crafting station, and none of the pins on our map is a methane cartridge. The files list it in 9 recipes (T2 Fertilizer, Air filter, Microchip – T2 Blueprint pinning, Microchip – T2 Deconstruction, Mutagen and 4 more), so you will meet it again. How to find one is not something these files tell me.

One lead: the map has 9 wrecked "Fusion reactor" containers (Toxicity 6, Selenea 3), each with random loot rolled when the world loads. The files do not say what they hold, so treat them as a place to look, not a promise: Selenea wrecks, Toxicity wrecks.

Each Pulsar Quartz is 1 Osmium, 1 Zeolite, 1 Iridium, 1 Uranium, 1 Methane cartridge. The files list two places that craft it: Bio lab or Quartz T1. The Quartz craft station is stored with an unlock of 1.00 × 10^20 System Terraformation, far beyond any stage on the planets page, so the one with a normal threshold is the Biolab: it unlocks at 865 Biomass and costs 2 Osmium, 3 Super Alloy, 1 Aluminum. The quartz itself is stored with an unlock of 175,000,000,000 Terraformation. You need three of them for one reactor.

Super Alloy is 1 Cobalt, 1 Iron, 1 Magnesium, 1 Silicon, 1 Titanium, 1 Aluminum, crafted at Station T3. It is also an ore pin on four planets, so you can mine it instead: where to find Super Alloy.

Build the Fusion reactor from the list in step 1. The files store no unlock value for it (the field reads "none"), so the building's own gate is not something I can read. The fuel is different: the Fusion Energy Cell is 3 Pulsar Quartz, 2 Osmium, 1 Obsidian, crafted at Station T3, with a stored threshold of 40,000,000,000 Terraformation. On Prime's stage table that sits between Prime's stage 10 (Breathable atmosphere, 32,000,000,000) and stage 11 (Fish, 120,000,000,000). The same stage table is on the planets page.

What the reactor gives you in energy per second is not in the files: its generation field is empty. The other fusion building, the Nuclear Fusion generator, is stored with +1,485 Energy per second and an unlock of 750,000,000 Heat, at 5 Pulsar Quartz, 4 Super Alloy.
