Hollow Knight White Palace: Rooms and What Is Inside
The files hold 19 White Palace rooms around one hub, with 3 benches and a single pickup room tied to the Kingsoul charm. The palace has no position on the pause map, so there is no pin for it, and the room data does not say which outside room leads in: 5 doors in 3 rooms are opened by script.

- Benches3WP 01, WP 03_hub, WP 06
- Wingmoulds31the common enemy
- Doors to elsewhere5in 3 rooms, set by script
Players search for the White Palace for two reasons: to find the door, and to know what waits behind it. The files answer the second fully and the first only in part, so this page does both honestly: what the rooms contain, how they connect, and exactly where my knowledge of the entrance stops.

How to get in: what the files show
Two lines of the game's text locate the palace. The relic dealer says of the old King's palace: "It's down below this city, in the bedrock of the kingdom." And a dream in the Abyss whispers "...Kingdom above... Palace below... Servants' path..." Our map labels a sub-area called Palace Grounds, but a label is all it is.
The room data stops there. No room outside the palace has a doorway into it. Instead WP 03_hub, WP 06, WP 11 each hold doors whose target scene is empty in the files, which means a script sets where they lead. The one that joins the palace's first room is WP 11: it has two such doors, a Kingsmould, and its own door2 into WP 01. So I read WP 11 as the way in, and I cannot tell you from the files what you need to carry to open it.
I am not giving you a requirement
The Kingsoul charm text ends "Opens the way to a birthplace." I did not decode the script behind the entry doors, so I name no item, charm or flag as the key.
The layout, room by room
Room names are the scene names in the files, shortened: WP 11 is White_Palace_11 and WP 03_hub is White_Palace_03_hub. The graph below comes from the doorways between the rooms.
- Entry. WP 11 joins WP 01 (bench, a lift and 3 Wingmoulds). From there WP 02 is a dead end with a Kingsmould, and the way up leads to the hub.
- The hub, WP 03_hub. Five doorways lead to WP 01, WP 04, WP 06, WP 14, WP 15. It has a bench and a lift, and two scripted doors.
- West loop. WP 04 and WP 14 join each other and the hub.
- East dead end. WP 15 leads to WP 05 and then WP 16, where the branch ends.
- North climb to the pickup. WP 06 (a bench and 5 Wingmoulds) leads up through WP 07, WP 12 and WP 13 to WP 08 and WP 09.
- The long branch. From WP 06 the left exit runs WP 18 to WP 17 to WP 19 to WP 20, ending in a room with two Kingsmoulds.
Eighteen or nineteen
The files hold 19 room files named White_Palace. The areas hub counts 18 because WP 08 carries no zone in the files.
What is inside
Enemies. 31 Wingmoulds ("A fly-like construct formed of white shell and a dark liquid interior.") and 4 Kingsmoulds ("Guard construct of Hallownest's Palace and skilled wielder of the curved claw-blade. Its heavy white armour protects a fragile body."). The Hunter's Journal names are Wingmould and Kingsmould; the objects in the scenes carry older names. Health and damage are in scripts I did not read, so I give none.
Benches. 3: White_Palace_01, White_Palace_03_hub, White_Palace_06. The bench layer does not show them, because the palace is not on the pause map.
Lifts. 3 White Palace lifts, in WP 01, WP 03_hub, WP 09.
The pickup. WP 09 holds the palace's only Shiny pickup. Its script reads the flags gotCharm_36, gotKingFragment and gotQueenFragment. Charm 36 is Kingsoul, a 5-notch charm whose text reads: "Holy charm symbolising a union between higher beings. The bearer will slowly absorb the limitless SOUL contained within."
Common mistakes
- Looking for a pin. There is none; the palace has no pause-map position.
- Treating WP 16 as a way on. It is the end of the east branch.
- Expecting a boss list. The files tie no boss to a room in the palace; the Hunter's Journal has the two enemy types above.
About these numbers
These pages read the game files of build 1.5.78.11833 (2021). Steam now has 1.5.12620 (March 2026) with fixes and no new areas; PinDrop has not re-read that build.
Counts of Wingmoulds and Kingsmoulds are scene objects, not spawn tables; a script may place more or fewer in play.
