Hollow Knight Dream Bosses: All 7 and Where

Game files, build 1.5.78.118332 min read

Hollow Knight has 7 Warrior's Dreams: Gorb (Howling Cliffs), No Eyes (Greenpath), Elder Hu (Fungal Wastes), Marmu (Queen's Gardens), Xero (Resting Grounds), Galien (Deepnest), Markoth (Kingdom's Edge). Each stands in one room, and each is 1 point of the 112% completion. The Seer's essence ladder ends at 2,400 Essence.

Most dream boss pages list the names and stop. This one gives the room of every warrior from the scene files, the closest bench for the 6 pinned in their own room, and the Seer's essence steps, so you can plan the whole trip.

The seven Dream Warriors, area by area

Each one stands in a single room, named here the way the game files name it. The order follows the areas hub, not a difficulty order: the files hold no fight stats.

  1. Gorb

    Howling Cliffs, room Cliffs_02

    1dream fight
    • Dreamborn god of the beyond. The game's journal text: "Lingering dream of a fallen warrior. A mysterious life-form that claimed to contain all of the world's knowledge inside of its distended brain."
    • Closest bench on the map in a straight line: Fungus1_01b (Greenpath).
    • No Warrior's Grave pin in this room.
    Open Gorb on the map
  2. No Eyes

    Greenpath, room Fungus1_35

    1dream fight

    Pin at the entrance

    • Dreamborn god of fear and relief. The game's journal text: "Lingering dream of a fallen warrior. Disappeared during the plague."
    • Fungus1_35 is not on the pause map, so the boss pin marks the entrance: Fungus1_34 (Greenpath).
    • No Warrior's Grave pin in this room.
Open the entrance on the map
  3. Elder Hu

    Fungal Wastes, room Fungus2_32

    1dream fight
    • Dreamborn god of travellers and sages. The game's journal text: "Lingering dream of a fallen warrior. Travelled the world tending to those affected by the plague."
    • Closest bench on the map in a straight line: Ruins1_29 (City of Tears).
    • A Warrior's Grave pin marks this room too.
Open Elder Hu on the map
  4. Marmu

    Queen's Gardens, room Fungus3_40

    1dream fight
    • Dreamborn god of gardens. The game's journal text: "Lingering dream of a fallen warrior. Protector of the Queen's Gardens."
    • Closest bench on the map in a straight line: Fungus3_50 (Queen's Gardens).
    • No Warrior's Grave pin in this room.
    Open Marmu on the map
  5. Xero

    Resting Grounds, room RestingGrounds_02

    1dream fight
    • Dreamborn god of faith and betrayal. The game's journal text: "Lingering dream of a fallen warrior. Executed for crimes against the King."
    • Closest bench on the map in a straight line: Mines_29 (Crystal Peak).
    • No Warrior's Grave pin in this room.
    Open Xero on the map
  6. Galien

    Deepnest, room Deepnest_40

    1dream fight
    • Dreamborn god of heroic hearts. The game's journal text: "Lingering dream of a fallen warrior. Trained in the wilds bordering the kingdom, hoping to become a Knight."
    • Closest bench on the map in a straight line: Deepnest_14 (Deepnest).
    • A Warrior's Grave pin marks this room too.
    Open Galien on the map
  7. Markoth

    Kingdom's Edge, room Deepnest_East_10

    1dream fight
    • Dreamborn god of meditation and isolation. The game's journal text: "Lingering dream of a fallen warrior. Only member of his forgotten tribe to take up a weapon."
    • Closest bench on the map in a straight line: Deepnest_East_06 (Kingdom's Edge).
    • A Warrior's Grave pin marks this room too.
    Open Markoth on the map

Before you go

  • Seven, not five. The scene files hold seven Warrior ghosts outside the Godhome, and the completion formula counts seven kill flags.
  • Three rooms have a Warrior's Grave pin. Elder Hu (Fungus2_32), Galien (Deepnest_40), Markoth (Deepnest_East_10).
  • Essence has a ladder. The Seer's lines name 10 steps from 100 to 2,400 Essence. 14 whispering roots are pinned on the map.

Essence per warrior is not in the files we read, so this page does not say how much each dream gives.

Common mistakes

  • Looking for every pin in the warrior's room. No Eyes fights in Fungus1_35 (Greenpath), a room the pause map does not draw; the pin sits at the entrance instead.
  • Mixing them up with the Godhome fights. The Hall of Gods lists the same names as separate rooms (GG_Ghost_*); the dreams are the ones in the areas above.
  • Expecting a Dream Nail pickup on this page. The files we show hold no pickup room for it.

Where the dreams are

The Dream Nail's own text reads: "Allows the wielder to cut through the veil between dreams and waking. Can be used to reveal hidden dreams or open gateways. The Dream Nail can collect Essence, remnants of wishes and dreams." The cards above give the room of each warrior.

The Seer's essence ladder

The Seer's dialogue asks for Essence in steps: 100, 200, 300, 500, 700, 900, 1,200, 1,500, 1,800, 2,400. The game's achievements repeat three of them: Attunement "Collect 600 Essence", Awakening "Collect 1800 Essence and awaken the Dream Nail" and Ascension "Collect 2400 Essence and hear the Seer's final words".

Three of her lines are worth knowing. At 200 Essence she says "I'll open the door", of the great door outside her room. At 500 she gives a charm: "this Charm will bring you and the Dream Nail closer together still". At 2,400 she has "no more gifts to give".

One of the roots is "just outside" her room, by her own words, and the map pins a whispering root in RestingGrounds_08. How much Essence a root or a warrior gives is script data we did not read.

About these numbers

These pages read the game files of build 1.5.78.11833 (2021). Steam now has 1.5.12620 (March 2026) with fixes and no new areas; PinDrop has not re-read that build.

Room names such as Fungus1_35 are the scene names in the files; the 112% checklist uses the same ones for its seven dream points.
