Enshrouded Beginners Guide — First 20 Hours

Embervale is a sandbox, which means "where do I go first?" is the real first question. This guide answers it with the actual data — biome levels, archetype counts, and a starter build linked from the planner.
1. Stay in Springlands until Flame Level 2-3
Springlands is Embervale's tutorial biome — level 1-10, Flame Level 1-2. It connects out to Revelwood and Nomad Highlands, so it's also your hub for the early-mid game.
Don't sprint into the next biome to chase rare loot. The Flame Level gate (4 for Nomad Highlands, 5 for Kindlewastes) is enforced — you'll get punished by the Shroud if you push too fast.
2. Pick an archetype, not a class
Enshrouded has four archetypes — Mage (50 skills), Ranger (54), Warrior (45), and Survivor (13). You can mix freely. There's no "class lock."
For your first run, lock in attribute nodes (Intelligence/Strength/Dexterity/Constitution) early — they're 1-point each and they buff everything you'll do.
Then commit to one archetype's mid-tier skills. Hybrid builds are powerful in the late game but expensive in skill points before then.
3. Use the Fire Mage Starter or Sword & Board Tank
Two presets work for first runs: Fire Mage Starter and Sword & Board Tank. Both are deep enough to clear Springlands and Revelwood without respec.

4. Build your first base near a Spire
Ancient Spires light up the biome map, drop fast-travel, and crucially expand your Flame Altar's range. Pin your first base inside one of those circles — usually in Springlands first, then a forward base when you push into Revelwood or Nomad Highlands.

Main path runs ~25-30 hours; full sandbox completion 80+. Most of the value sits in build choices and base-building, not the linear path.
- What class should I pick first in Enshrouded?
Fire Mage Starter or Sword & Board Tank. Both cover their archetype's survival pair from level 10 and don't require respec scrolls for the early game.
- Can I play Enshrouded solo?
Yes — the entire game is solo-friendly. Co-op scales loot but no encounter requires multiple players. Pick a build with a survival pair (Healer + Sun Aura for Mage; Absorb + Battle Heal for Warrior) and you're set.
- When should I leave Springlands?
Around Flame Level 3 / character level 8-10. Sprint earlier and the Shroud will punish you; stay longer and you'll out-level the loot.
