Subnautica: Below Zero Resources: Where They Spawn

The game rolls most of its resources for each new game, so this page is a chance table for 17 resources: pick one to see the areas where it is likeliest and the depth it spawns at.

Data: Subnautica: Below Zero game files (build of 12 Aug 2025), read and drawn by PinDrop. (c) Unknown Worlds Entertainment. PinDrop is fan-made and not affiliated with Unknown Worlds Entertainment.

A model read from the game's code and data (EntitySlot spawner tables, 921,892 baked slots), not verified in a running game; it shows where a resource CAN spawn, not where it is in your save.

How to read the chances

The model counts 921,892 baked entity slots in the game files and the spawn table each slot uses. For a resource, the share of an area's slots that can hold it says how often a roll there can give it; the expected spawns per game add that up over the whole area. The depth band lists the depth below which 10% and 90% of the modelled spawns lie, with the median between (negative metres are below sea level).

Fixed placements are different: they are objects the files place at set coordinates, and they are pinned on the map. Besides the 17 rolled resources the files also place 25 ion cubes and 64 flowering spores. Recipes that use these materials are on the crafting page; blueprint fragments are rolled the same way, see blueprints.
