The map shows 568 pins for 108 of the 170 Hunter's Journal entries. One pin stands for one entry in one room, at the middle of that enemy's spawn points there, and says how many spawn points the room holds and how many kills the entry needs.
Entries with no pin are bosses fought in their own arena rooms, Hall of Gods and Colosseum fights, enemies in rooms the pause map does not draw, and enemies the game creates from a prefab at run time. They are missing here, not absent from the game. Flukelings are not drawn either: their death script names the Crawlid entry although they are not Crawlids.
Journal pins by area: City of Tears (90), Crossroads (83), Green Path (69), Fungal Wastes (59), Kingdoms Edge (50), Deepnest (43). Boss entries with the journal text are on the bosses page.
How the pins are read: objects whose death script (EnemyDeathEffects or one of its variants) carries a Hunter's Journal key, one pin per entry and room. The files hold 693 of them and 568 are placed on the map. Not placed: 108 entry and room pairs sit in 87 rooms that have no pause-map position (boss arenas, Hall of Gods, Colosseum, White Palace, dream rooms); 17 more have every object parked outside its room (spawn pools). In all 1758 of 2219 journal objects are drawn; the rest are in those rooms or single objects parked outside a room that has other pins. 150 Flukeling objects (fluke_baby) are left out: their death script carries the name Crawler although they are not Crawlids. Hollow Shade has no pin of its own: its journal record carries the name Crawler, the same as Crawlid.
