Best Enshrouded Ranger Build 2026 — The Sniper
Also known asTank RangerBow SniperArcher DPS
Long-range DPS that opens fights from outside aggro. Stack Marksman + Sharpshooter + Sniper, pair with Runner for kiting between volleys.
The Sniper is the Ranger's cleanest opener — pure long-range DPS that breaks fights before they reach you. The picks below are the ones that actually compose well together, tuned for the Ranger's small but potent skill pool.
Skills in this build
Stat priority
- Primary
- DEX — every pip multiplies ranged damage and unlocks better bows.
- Secondary
- Endurance — stamina pool feeds dodge-rolls between volleys; secondary buffer for survivability.

Early game
Flame 1-2 · Lv 1-15
Armor
Get the loop firing. Wildwood Shortbow crafts from starter wood; swap to Hunter's Bow once Marksman unlocks.
Mid game
Flame 3-4 · Lv 15-30
Weapons
Sniper + Sharpshooter online. Composite Bow is where the build clicks — headshot crits carry Revelwood through to the Sun Temple.
Best in slot
Flame 5-6 · Lv 30-45
Weapons
Endgame kite-and-crit rotation. Chain Reaction capstone + Precision runes on either legendary bow — you'll one-shot most Kindlewastes casters.
Playstyle
Opener
Engage from max bow range. Tag the highest-value target first (caster > archer > frontliner). Land a fully-charged Sniper headshot before anything closes.
Main rotation
Skill Shot → dash 90° to break line-of-sight → reposition → charge the next headshot. Feather Sharpshooter + Marksman procs into every draw; each stacked pip is a damage multiplier.
Positioning
Stay outside melee aggro at all times. In groups let the tank pull; solo, kite along terrain that breaks the enemy's charge line. Keep one dodge in reserve.
Cooldown usage
Never empty your stamina bar. Rebound refunds a shot on a miss — burn it during Sniper windows, not as a panic button. Runner is for the disengage after a failed volley.
Boss phase
Pre-buff with Bell Pepper + Cooked Fae Deer Milk. Most bosses telegraph melee 1.5s out — use that window to charge a fully-drawn Sniper shot. Dodge into the blind side, headshot again, repeat.
Strengths & weaknesses
Pros
- Highest single-target burst in the game when Sniper + Sharpshooter + Marksman all proc
- Outranges every melee enemy and most caster effects
- Stamina + dodge-roll movement is the strongest survival kit at range
- Scales linearly from Springlands through Veilwater Basin
Cons
- Dies to a single enemy that closes the gap before stamina recovers
- Ammo / arrow durability is a real money sink — keep crafting materials stocked
- Boss arenas with no cover or narrow sight-lines are brutal
- Multi-target trash mobs (Shroud waves) chew through ammo fast
Synergies & counters
Pairs with
- Sword & Board Tank — Pulls aggro so you free-fire; his shield covers the gap during your reload.
- Berserker Barbarian — Sub-in tank for boss fights — his Blood Rage soaks the arena while you stack Sniper crits.
- Battlemage Hybrid — AoE-clears adds so your single-target ammo goes to elites instead of trash.
- Ice Mage — Crowd Control — Frozen targets eat 2x damage from headshots. Call the freeze; land the burst.
Struggles against
- Cave / dungeon encounters — No sight-lines + tight melee chokepoints kill the kite loop. Swap to a melee build for those runs.
- Shroud swarm waves — Fast melee mobs close the gap before stamina recovers. Bring Multi-Shot Bowmaster instead if the pull is grouped.
- Charge / leap bosses — Fell Sicklescythe + Cyclops close 15m in a second — build a cover-heavy arena or bring backup daggers.
- Sun Temple boss arena — Open-floor encounters with roaming AoE — plan the kite path before the pull or the Sniper build folds.

Eagle Eye | Ranger | 3p | |
Chain Reaction | Ranger | 5p |
Why pick these skills in this order (expand per-band focus)
Lv 1-15
Pip stat into DEX, take Marksman first, then Sharpshooter. SKILL_SHOT goes early — it unlocks the headshot loop.
Lv 15-30
Pick up Sniper for the burst window, then Runner so kiting actually works. Drop a few DEX pips into Endurance for the stamina pool.
Lv 30-45
Round out with Multi-Shot for trash clear and Eagle Eye for cone awareness. Final 184-pt slot: Chain Reaction for ult-tier burst.
Recommended gems
Precision
Bow slot — flat +damage on every headshot; the build's bread and butter.
Crit Damage
Weapon slot — Sniper + Sharpshooter procs already crit; scale the multiplier.
Reflex
Chest — stamina regen kicks kite timing up a gear, buys an extra dodge per boss phase.
Video guide
The build
Open in planner — eight picks, ~17-18 skill points. Targets the level 15-30 / Flame 4-6 window.
Why these skills
Attributes first. Dexterity drives bow damage; Endurance keeps the stamina pool deep enough to kite. 1 point each, but you'd be silly to skip them.
Skill Shot is the Ranger's signature opener — unlocks the precision hit that other Ranger picks scale off.
Marksman → Sharpshooter → Sniper is the explicit accuracy/damage chain. You want the full ladder; skipping any one of the three leaves DPS on the table.
Rebound and Runner are the survival kit. Rebound recovers from missed shots; Runner keeps you out of melee range when the enemy closes. Without them the Sniper becomes a one-shot-or-die build, which isn't fun in a co-op session.
Weapon pairing
Bows from the weapon catalog are the obvious fit — match the bow's required level to your character level and you're set.
Keep a melee in your offhand for emergencies — Daggers cross-train with Survivor's Backstab kit, which is useful when something gets inside your bow range.
When NOT to pick the Sniper
If you're solo (not co-op), the Sniper struggles in tight Shroud caves where line-of-sight is limited. Swap to a Mage or Warrior preset for those runs and treat the Sniper as your above-ground build.
The build catalog has four other archetypes ready in the planner if Sniper isn't a fit.
FAQ
- Is the Ranger Sniper viable solo?
- Yes — it's one of the strongest solo builds in Enshrouded. The kite-and-headshot loop trivialises most overworld content. The only caveats are cramped dungeons and a handful of bosses with closing mechanics; bring a backup melee weapon for those.
- Best bow for the Ranger Sniper build?
- Use the highest-tier longbow you can craft at your Flame level. Prioritise base damage > critical-on-headshot > stamina-on-kill mods. Crossbow is a viable swap for mid-range encounters but trades fire rate for raw damage.
- Do I need to invest in any Mage skills?
- Not for pure DPS. Some players splice in Fire Resistance (2 pts) for the Kindlewastes and Veilwater Basin; that's optional. The 184-point cap is tight enough that any Mage cross-class steals from your DEX scaling.
- How do I survive boss fights?
- Pre-buff with a stamina-regen tea + a crit-chance dish. Open with a fully-charged Sniper headshot, dodge-roll into the boss's blind side, headshot again. Most bosses telegraph their melee attacks 1.5s out — use that window to charge the next shot.
