Starter — First 10 Levels
Pick-anything safe spec for fresh saves. One stat-pip + Well Rested + Counterstrike covers any combat path while you decide your archetype.
Skills in this build
Stat priority
- Primary
- CON for survivability — never lock yourself out of an archetype before you've tried them.
- Secondary
- Spread one pip into the attribute matching the weapon you've found in your save.
Recommended weapons
- Primary
- Whatever you craft first — a short sword from sticks + flint covers any biome until Flame 2.
- Ranged
- Wooden bow at the workbench; trivially crafted, helps for hit-and-run.
Armor
Light hide set. Survivability matters less than mobility while you're learning the controls.
Food & consumables
- Roasted vegetables (anywhere)
- Grilled meat (raises stamina)
- Stockpiled bandages (the difference between a death and a recovery)
Playstyle
Stick to the Springlands biome. Clear visible enemies one at a time; never engage groups of 3+ until you have a real weapon. Counterstrike turns a panicked melee mob into a free kill — let them swing first. Don't worry about optimisation; this build's job is to keep you alive until you've decided whether you're a tank, mage, ranger, or hybrid.
Strengths & weaknesses
Pros
- Cheapest 'recoverable' build — easy to respec into anything else later
- Covers every basic combat scenario through Springlands
- Counterstrike is the single highest-value 2-point skill in the game
Cons
- Becomes obsolete at Level 15; respec mandatory
- Weak burst damage; you'll grind kills
Synergies & counters
Pairs with
- · Any veteran co-op buddy who can carry early bosses while you learn

FAQ
- When should I respec out of this?
- Around Level 15 / Flame Level 3. By then you've tried each weapon type and know your preferred archetype. Respec to a Ranger Sniper, Fire Mage, or Sword & Board Tank.
- Do I really need Counterstrike?
- Yes — it's the most efficient survival pip in the early game. 2 points for 'parry → free counter-hit' is unbeatable at this stage.
- Is this build viable in co-op?
- Only as the fresh joiner. Co-op pulls you through encounters above your Flame level; lean on your veteran teammates and respec the moment you can.
